Carolyn Sharaway, M.A., CFRE
It is my pleasure to be of service to the nonprofit field. I have fifteen years experience working in various capacities for small to large organizations in and around New York and New Jersey. Throughout my career, I have led and supported the development of more than ten organizations raising more than $30 million.
My passion is working with organizations like yours to develop a wide range of resources that facilitate growth and sustainability. I do this through assessment and analysis, coaching and mentoring, planning and implementation in a variety of fundraising activities including donor stewardship and cultivation, appeals, campaigns, events, grant applications, and crowdfunding.
I’d be happy to talk about how I can help you and your organization raise money, make new friends, and develop partnerships that support your mission.
I look forward to speaking with you!

Carolyn Sharaway's 16-year career in the nonprofit sector began in direct service to under served populations and was the catalyst to pursue fundraising as a career. She developed her skills in institutional advancement for health and education organizations which led to the management of multi-year, sustainable fundraising and development projects. Carolyn earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from Stony Brook University and a master’s degree in Nonprofit Management from Milano School of International Affairs, Management, and Urban Policy in New York City. As a Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE), Carolyn holds the only accredited, globally recognized certification for fundraising professionals. To earn CFRE certification, fundraising professionals must meet education, professional practice, and professional performance requirements, pass a comprehensive exam on best practices in ethical fundraising; and attest that they are knowledgeable and abide by the International Statement of Ethical Principles in Fundraising as well as laws governing fundraising in their region of practice. The CFRE Exam assesses knowledge in six key domains: Current and Prospective Donor Research, Securing the Gift, Relationship Building, Volunteer Involvement, Leadership and Management, and Ethics, Accountability, and Professionalism.
By hiring a CFRE professional, nonprofit boards, employers, and grant makers have full confidence that their fundraising team members are using current best practices and are dedicated to ethical fundraising and that they have brought on the most knowledgeable, dedicated individuals in the fund raising realm.
